There are seven Catholic Sacraments. These sacraments are Baptism, Eucharist or Communion, Reconciliation (also known as Penance), Confirmation, Marriage, Holy Orders and Annointing of the Sick. Although, Communion and Reconciliation are seperate sacraments you will often see them listed together because they are usually received in the same year. The seven Catholic Sacraments are special occasions for experiencing God's saving presence. For more information about these sacraments visit AmericanCatholic.org.
"Catechesis for Baptism is directed primarily to adults: that is, catechumens-including children who have reached the age of reason-as well as the parents and godparents of infants who are to be baptized. All those preparing for Baptism, including parents and godparents who are preparing for the Baptism of an infant or child, need the prayerful support and apostolic witness of the people of the local community of faith - the parish. This preparation is an especially important opportunity for the Church to encourage the parents and godparents of infants to reexamine the meaning of the Christian message in their own lives." (National Directory for Catechesis)
Baptisms are held on the second Saturday of the month. Parents and Godparents are required to attend preparation sessions. Please call the Parish office for more information.
Bautismos se toman lugar cada segundo Sabado del mes. Los padres y padrinos deben participar en las sesiones de prepparacion. Por favor de llamar a la oficina para otra informacion.
If you are considering getting married in the Catholic church please contact the Parish office at least 6 months before the desired date.
If you are seriously ill, homebound, in the hospital or having serious surgery please contact the Parish office.
Si esta usted o algun miembro de su familia esta enfermo, en el hospital o en su casa, o antes de una operacion llama a la oficina para comunicarse con al sacerdote.
A diocesan priest is ordained for the service of God’s people in a definite geographical area under the obedience of the bishop. So, a diocesan priest from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston will serve wherever the Cardinal appoints him within the boundaries of the Archdiocese. For the most part, he lives among the people in the parishes of the diocese, ministering to the day-to-day needs of God’s people. His ministry centers around the administration of the sacraments: celebration of masses, baptisms, weddings, funerals, hearing confessions and anointing the sick. He caters to the needs of the people in his parish in ways such as counseling, visiting the sick, talking to youth groups, CCE classes, prayer groups, young adult meetings, etc. His commitment is to serve the people of the local Church.
